Christian Reed, UAH's Chief Facilities Officer and Campus Architect, will present the UAH Long-Term Master Plan to interested OLLI members. The master planning process provides a clear and compelling vision of a unique, attractive, and functional setting for all the activities that go on at UAH.

Listening to music can be a pleasure and a challenge: What does this all mean? Poetry can open understanding, truths, and resonances of music that may otherwise elude us.

Learn about competing with horses and the horse industry. Gain insight on aspects of breeding, raising, training, purchasing, and competing on AQHA Performance Horses. The presenter will discuss what it was like growing up on her family farm and how that has progressed into her own business.

Come learn about stress & anxiety and how our bodies respond to them. This presentation will discuss practical ways to handle stress, cope with anxiety, and incorporate mindfulness into our daily lives.

This exhibit at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center features over thirty fun interactive displays, multiple live feeds, and unique sensory experiences for guests to explore and learn about the fascinating world of weather. 

Visit Fantasy Playhouse’s historic and recently renovated Merrimack Hall to see a one-act production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” followed by a tour of the facility. A Q&A session with the actors and creative team will also be included. 

Cost: $10 at the door.

 Experience the musical trappings of an extraordinarily talented storyteller, songwriter, and multi-musical instrumentalist.

Join us for a visit to the new City Hall in downtown Huntsville. Our tour group will learn about the construction of the building, the city departments housed together, and some of the art works exhibited by local artists throughout the building. With his schedule allowing, we will also meet with Mayor Tommy Battle for a Q&A session. 

In recognition of October being proclaimed Space Exploration Month by the City of Huntsville, Dr. Rick Chappell (retired NASA/MSFC) will share his experiences planning space exploration missions and undergoing full training as an Alternate Payload Specialist for the space shuttle Atlantis, STS-45.

Bring your family and friends to an evening of good food, live music, and fun under the Saturn V rocket at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center. The benefactor of this evening’s charity fundraiser will be OLLI at UAH!

Travel with photographers to the Dolomites, a monumental mountain range in northeastern Italy. This picturesque countryside is full of rugged mountains, and charming, tiny villages straight out of a fairytale. Ride up several ski-lift gondolas to get a bird’s eye view of these gorgeous mountains. Get a peek at Burano, one of the world’s most colorful islands not far from Venice.

Visit the national headquarters and museum of the National Speleological Society (caving) located right here in Huntsville! Learn about the Society’s history, why they are located in Huntsville, their mission, training activities, highlights of our area’s many caves, and cave rescue procedures. Our tour will also include some demonstrations and videos.

Join us in Tuscumbia for a tour, views and food! We'll start the day by departing from UAH at 8:30 am (carpools) and driving to Ivy Green, the birthplace of Hellen Keller, for a guided tour around the grounds. Then we’ll make a short trip down to the Rattlesnake Saloon for views, lunch in a cave, and shopping.

Hear the purpose of the Singing River Trail which is focused on the collaborative efforts to link and develop 200+ miles of existing and future trails and greenway systems. This trail seeks to strengthen regional bonds and inspire the creation of new health and wellness, educational, economic, tourism, and entrepreneurial opportunities for the people and communities of North Alabama.

Participate in a UAH physics lab class to learn about several principles of physics. Members will have the opportunity to experiment with a variety of hands-on lab exercises.

An introduction to Alabama’s birds and Alabama Audubon’s important bird conservation work across the state.

Join us for a guided history tour of the Weeden House Museum and Garden built in 1819. Located in the Twickenham Historic District, the two-story brick house is an example of Federal architecture and features 19th Century furnishings, an outstanding leaded glass entrance fanlight, spiral staircase and hand-carved mantels.
